Abstract

|
The massive pulmonary hemorrhage with high mortality is very rare complication,
even though peluropulmonary manifestations are relatively common in any stage of
systemic lupus erythematosus. The main mechanism and primary process are thought to
be the result of immune complex deposits in the pulmonary vasculature. But other
factors such as sepsis, D.I.C., pulmonary embolism and pulmonary infection were also
participated in.
Recently plasmapheresis has been applied to treat S.L.E. associated with pulmonary
manifestation. Many authors suggest that removal of immune-complex is the prime
object.
Presented here, a case, 36year-old housewife, of S.L.E. with massive pulmonary
hemorhage, treated with plasmapheresis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first
case in this country.
